Kadeena Cox

Fee Band

Kadeena is a history-making Paralympian, winning gold medals in two different sports at the same Games. A promising sprinter, her sporting career changed course when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis following a stroke. Not allowing her illness to get in the way of her dreams, she went on to secure a place at the Paralympics in both 2016 and 2020 winning a total of six medals across cycling and athletics. Away from the track, she champions diversity in cycling and has appeared on I’m a Celebrity and Celebrity Masterchef.

Biography

Kadeena Cox is a paralympic sprinter and cyclist, becoming the first person in over thirty years to win two gold medals in different sports at a Paralympic Games. At Rio 2016 she took gold in the T38 athletics 400m and C4 cycling 500m time trial, setting new world records in both. She continued her winning streak at Tokyo 2020, returning to the velodrome to defend her time trial title and take home two further gold medals in cycling.

Just two years before the Rio games, Kadeena was an able-bodied athlete sprinting competitively and with her heart set on securing a spot on the Team GB Winter Olympics team. However, her course was altered when she suffered a stroke and was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Intent on still competing and refusing to let her diagnosis prevent her from reaching her dreams, she turned her attention to the Paralympics in not one but two sports. She went on to become a national hero with her dual-sport wins and is still making enormous strides in the world of para-sport with a total of 5 World Championship gold medals & 6 Paralympic medals across 2 sports.

In speeches, Kadeena shares her incredible story of strength and resilience and talks about the importance of never giving up on your dreams. She encourages audiences to step out of their comfort zone and try something new, to challenge themselves and not to be afraid to ask for help. As the only black British athlete to ever win a gold medal in Olympic and Paralympic cycling, she also champions others to get into sport, especially women and the BAME community. As a figurehead for this movement, she founded the KC Academy to provide inspiration, opportunity and support for ethnically diverse athletes in cycling.

Away from the track, Kadeena was on Celebrity Gogglebox with her fellow athlete Adam Gemili and spent some time in the castle on I’m a Celebrity. As well as holding the prestigious title of Celebrity Masterchef Champion, she was also awarded an OBE for her services to athletics.
