Historian, author and presenter Dominic hosts the world’s most popular history podcast, The Rest Is History, alongside Tom Holland. He has been a book critic for the Sunday Times for two decades, and is the author of Never Had It So Good, State of Emergency, and White Heat, which was adapted into a BBC TV Drama series.
Historian and broadcaster Dominic Sandbrook is the co-host of the international hit podcast The Rest is History, in which he and Tom Holland uncover the little known facts and stories, analyse the impact, and dispell the myths around some of the most important events and people in over 2,000 years of history. Dominic is also the author of best-selling and acclaimed books exploring the political, social and cultural life of post-war Britain, Never Had It So Good, White Heat, State of Emergency and Seasons in the Sun, The Great British Dream Factory and Who Dares Wins: Britain, 1979-1982.
Dominic has written and presented television series including The 70s and The 80s with Dominic Sandbrook, and has presented Tomorrow’s Worlds: The Unearthly History of Science Fiction, Strange Days; Cold War Britain, and Let Us Entertain You, in which he explored the extraordinary success of British popular culture over the last century. He also presented a documentary about the German car industry’s successes, Das Auto: The Germans, Their Cars and Us.
With fellow historian Tom Holland, Dominic presents The Rest is History, by some distance the world's most popular history podcast. The success of the podcast led to a spin-off book full of historical trivia. The paid have also presented live shows to sell-out audiences in New York, Washington, Dublin, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, and venues across the UK, including London's West End.
As well as exploring modern Britain in print, Dominic has written two books on 20th Century American history, Eugene McCarthy, and Mad as Hell. He has been a book critic for the Sunday Times, and has been a regular columnist for BBC History, the Evening Standard, the New Statesman, and the Daily Mail.
