Carol Smillie is one of the UK’s best loved presenters. She hosted the hugely popular Changing Rooms, regularly attracting eleven million viewers, and The Midweek National Lottery. She also presented Dream Holiday Home.
After making her television debut as the hostess of Wheel of Fortune, Carol joined the BBC’s Travel Show and hosted a show on Radio Five Live. Carol also presented The Big Breakfast with Chris Evans.
Carol became the face of the BBC’s Holiday and Summer Holiday series. She co-presented two series of Hearts of Gold with Esther Rantzen before winning her own daily chat show Smillie’s People. She also took part in Strictly Come Dancing, winning fifth place. Carol has guested on countless shows including Graham Norton, Have I Got News For You, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and Richard Osman's House of Games.
Carol turned her hand to comedy theatre, performing in The Vagina Monologues and Hormonal Housewives at the Edinburgh Festival.
Her book Carol Smillie’s Working Mum’s Handbook is a guide to help mothers through the practical problems and emotional issues they face when returning to work.
She also trained to be a Humanist Celebrant, conducting non-religious weddings, funerals and baby naming’s with the Humanist Society Scotland, a job that completely changed her outlook on life, saying “helping people through the best and worst days of their lives is nothing short of a privilege".
