As former World, European and Commonwealth 110m hurdles champion, Colin Jackson is one of the most successful British athletes of all time. He was ranked amongst the top ten hurdlers for sixteen years - holding the world record for almost thirteen years.
Since hanging up his spikes, Colin has become an equally self-assured broadcaster. He is a key member of the BBC Sport team and one of the driving forces behind Sport Relief. He was also part of the London 2012 Olympic bid team and speaks about the process of winning the bid and delivering one of the most successful games ever.
Colin has put himself under the microscope in The Making Of Me, and co-hosted the sports talent search Born To Win. Other TV credits include Holiday and Strictly Come Dancing, in which he was narrowly beaten into second place by Darren Gough and Dancing on Ice, in which he placed third. He also continued his Olympic involvement in 2012 featuring as a regular BBC pundit and presenter.
On the conference platform Colin talks about how he turned bitter defeat into positive energy. He sets out the winning formula and the mental visualisation techniques, and describes the unwavering motivation needed to stay at the top of your game.
Colin’s modesty comes across the moment you meet him. In fact, his story about learning not to be cocky is one of many lessons to take away. Whether he’s doing a lap round the room with an Olympic flame, exciting you about the possibilities open to you or just making you laugh, he gets everyone involved. And he doesn’t mind being asked about Strictly!
