On TV Georgie is part of the Gadget Show team and a regular tech correspondent. Away from reviewing the latest apps and devices she considers the implications for business and society of developments in the digital world, the changing expectations of the next generation of employees, and how to encourage more women to work in tech.

 

 


Biography

Georgie Barrat is a technology journalist, broadcaster, and presenter. As well as co-hosting Channel 5’s Gadget Show she has written on technology for a range of publications including Marie Claire the Daily Mirror, and Huffington Post.

Away from reviewing the latest devices, apps, and developments, Georgie tackles everything from advances in technology, to the keys to engaging with, and motivating millennial and Generation Z employees. She is also passionate about women working in technology and encouraging school-age girls to learn to code and be involved in STEM subjects. She strives to make technology and the digital world as exciting, relevant, and inclusive as possible.

Alongside her work as part of the Gadget Show team, Georgie has appeared on ITV Tonight, Good Morning Britain, ITV Weekend, Steph's Packed Lunch, and is a regular on The Jeremy Vine Show. Other credits include breaking tech stories on the radio, presenting live coverage of Formula E, and working on-camera with a range of tech companies including Sony, Acer, EE, Asus, and HP.

She also hosted The Tech Disruption Series podcast, where she interviewed start-ups that disrupted industries. She has a world record for the longest time anyone has been in VR (26.5 hours), has run the London Marathon, and bungee jumped whilst wearing a VR headset. 

Pulling on her first-hand experience, Georgie has extensive knowledge of tech trends, from the metaverse and AI, to enterprise data centres and cloud technologies.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
