A media and copyright lawyer by trade, Kelsey combines this legal expertise with an understanding of how emerging technologies, including AI, are shifting the landscape. 


Biography

Kelsey Farish is a media and entertainment lawyer who bridges the gap between traditional media law and new technologies. She has been cited as one of Europe’s foremost legal authorities on AI-generated content, and her research contributions have appeared in academic textbooks, peer-reviewed journals and government policy publications.

As a lawyer, Kelsey supports a variety of clients across the audiovisual, publishing and media sectors, as well as those working in creative and performing arts. With a background in intellectual property and technology contracts, her specialism lies in advising on the intersector of personality (publicity) rights, copyright, and the use of GenAI such as deepfakes. She also offers her expertise on media contracts, IP and regulation management, privacy, and internet regulations.

Outside of her day job, Kelsey is a regular media commentator on the challenges and opportunities offered by AI. She is an advisory board member of vera.ai, an EU initiative for media and journalism professionals to combat disinformation and misinformation. She has been named as one of one of the UK’s best up and coming female lawyers by Law.com.  

As a speaker, Kelsey offers her insights into what the future may look like as we get to grips with new technologies, as well as discussing what companies and individuals using AI ought to be mindful of when using the technology.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
