With over two decades of experience at the famed Pixar Studios, Matthew has been involved in creating some of the best known and well-loved films of modern times, from Toy Story 2 and 3 to Monsters Inc. He now applies his expertise to the business world, enabling organisations to make the most of their most powerful tool - their story.
Matthew Luhn is a storyteller. He has over 20 years’ experience creating stories and characters at the world famous Pixar Studios. He now applies what he’s learned to businesses seeking to innovate and to connect with customers and employees.
Starting his career whilst still a teenager, Matthew was the youngest animator at the time to join The Simpsons’ production team. He then moved to Pixar just as their reputation as a pioneering studio was being established. He first worked on Toy Story 2 and subsequently worked on scripts and characters for some of the biggest animated films of all time including Monsters Inc, Cars, Up, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story 3.
Pixar built an enviable reputation for combining deceptively simple yet involving stories with wit and emotion to create films regarded as modern classics by fans of all ages. Having worked with those responsible for some of the most enduring films and affectionately-held characters of recent times, Matthew brings his experiences to the business world.
Matthew believes that the story is the most powerful tool business has, and one that is often overlooked. An effective story can motivate, sell, bring groups together and enable leaders to lead. He helps groups and organisations understand what their story is, how to tell it effectively to their particular audience, and the results that can come from that. Along with his work at Pixar, Matthew has trained CEOs, directors, and other professionals how to craft and tell stories. He has worked with companies including Adidas, Facebook, BBC, Procter & Gamble, Sony, Microsoft, Apple, and Google. As well as being an expert storyteller, he also uses captivating stories to share lessons from his experience on leadership, big data, and inspiring creativity in the workplace.
