Biography

Munroe Bergdorf is a familiar voice in the conversation around matters of inclusion, feminism, and the transgender community. A model, activist and Doctor of Letters, Munroe has proven herself as a brave and bold voice and a role model to many. In an age of increasing social awareness, Munroe uses her profile to advocate for a fairer society and to empower individuals to fight for positive change.

As a model, Munroe has fronted campaigns for Illamasqua and Missguided and closed shows at New York and London Fashion Weeks. She has also been featured in and written for numerous global publications from US Vogue to The Guardian. Munroe regularly consults for global FTSE 100 businesses and sits on the UK Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board at L’Oréal Paris. She helps influence and inform the brand as well as being a voice for black, trans and queer voices in the beauty industry.

Shortly after winning Cosmopolitan magazine's Changemaker of the Year award Munroe’s first film What Makes A Woman premiered on Channel 4. In the hour-long documentary, Munroe examined the changing world of gender and identity in today’s society, as both author and subject.

She regularly features in national and international media to comment on race, diversity, gender and LGBTQ+ topics, and has been appointed a UN Women UK Changemaker. She talks passionately about rejecting public shaming, preferring that we embrace accountability and resolve. She believes the path to a more kind and equitable society is by focusing on education – when you know better, you do better.
