Biography

Patrick Grant is a designer, entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainable fashion. As the founder of Community Clothing, he champions UK textile manufacturing, supporting local communities while promoting high-quality, long-lasting garments. His book Less became a Sunday Times Bestseller, details his commitment to reducing consumption and embracing circular, regenerative fashion.

Patrick has built a distinguished career in the fashion industry. He revitilised Savile Row tailor Norton & Sons, relaunched E. Tautz, claimed the Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, working with high street brands and luxury marques. He has worked with global brands including Cartier, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Barbour, and Alexander McQueen, always advocating for craftsmanship and quality. His passion for British manufacturing saw him rescue the historic Blackburn-based factory Cookson & Clegg from closure. This experience inspired him to launch Community Clothing, a pioneering initiative that has earned him widespread recognition for revitilising the UK garment industry.

Beyond fashion, Patrick is a familiar face on television. He is best known as a judge on BBC’s The Great British Sewing Bee, and has presented the award-winning documentary Coronation Tailors: Fit for a King. He won Celebrity Mastermind, and has written for publications including the Financial Times, The Times and GQ.

Patrick holds a degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Leeds, an MBA from Oxford, and honorary fellowships from multiple universities. He has delivered a TED Talk on sustainable fashion and is an ambassador for The King’s Foundation.
