Biography

Paul McKenna is a therapist, author and personal development expert. His books covering everything from stress and sleep to diet and career have been global best-sellers.

Paul started his career as a DJ and presenter, after working on local stations he moved to Capital and Radio 1 before becoming a full time hypnotist. He combined his media work with his new expertise in TV series such as The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna, which proved a huge success, attracting 200 million viewers in 42 countries. His stage show played at venues usually reserved for rock concerts and there followed other programmes exploring the mind, behaviour and hypnotism.

Moving away from entertainment, Paul has since built a reputation as the doyen of self help and personal development, selling millions of hypnotherapy recordings and over 10million books with titles including Stop Smoking For Good, Slim Now and Eliminate Stress. The Times referred to him as ‘one of the world’s most important modern gurus’ and has also tackled subjects including obesity, happiness, wealth, confidence and influence.

Looking at how psychology affects achievement, both personal and professional, and notions of resilience, confidence and persuasion, Paul has worked extensively with organisations from BMW to the Metropolitan Police, as well as individuals to change how they think and act. He has also developed accelerated learning programmes and worked with a number of athletes.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
