Sir Robin Niblett

Sir Robin is a distinguished fellow at Chatham House after spending fifteen years as its director and chief executive. He is also a distinguished fellow of the Asia Society Policy Institute and senior adviser to the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC. Robin is recognised as a leading expert on the relations between Europe, the US, and Asia, and their implications for risk management by governments and private institutions.


Biography

Robin Niblett has been the director and chief executive of Chatham House. Previously he was the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). During his last two years at CSIS, he also served as director of the CSIS Europe Programme and its Initiative for a Renewed Transatlantic Partnership.

He is co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Council on Geopolitics. Robin served as chair of the Experts Group for the 2014 NATO Summit and chair of the British Academy’s Steering Committee of Languages for Security Project.

Robin is a frequent panellist at conferences on geopolitics, Europe, and transatlantic relations, and has testified to British parliamentary Committees and US Congressional Committees.

His commentary and analysis have appeared in the Financial Times, Washington Post, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, and Reuters. He is the author of Britain, the EU and the Sovereignty Myth, Britain, Europe, and the World: Rethinking the UK’s Circles of Influence and Playing to its Strengths: Rethinking the UK’s Role in a Changing World.

Robin was appointed Companion of St Michael and St George (CMG), and Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George for services promoting the UK as a global centre for foreign policy.
