Chris played cricket for Oxford, and football for QPR. The Strictly champion continues to keep a sporting brief whilst also having covered news, consumer affairs, and national events.

Biography

Originally best known as BBC Breakfast’s sports correspondent, Chris Hollins became a firm viewers’ favourite on Strictly Come Dancing, winning the dance contest. Whilst still retaining a sports brief, he has also fronted a host of factual programmes and coverage of live events.

Chris presents a range of sports coverage for BT Sport including Premiership Rugby 7s, the FIH Hockey Champions Trophy, and rugby, Moto GP and boxing.

Away from the sports desk, Chris has anchored BBC Breakfast and joined the team of guest presenters on Cash In The Attic. He served as a co-host of BBC One’s long-running consumer programme Watchdog, and explored the countryside with Secret Britain. Other credits include The One Show, and The Great British Weather with Alexander Armstrong. He was also part of BBC coverage of The Diamond Jubilee events and Children in Need.

During his role covering sport for Breakfast, Chris became known for his diving head-first in to a variety of physically gruelling challenges. He also co-hosted Olympic Breakfast during the 2012 London Games. Having started his career at Sky Sports, he’s also reported for the BBC’s Grandstand and Football Focus programmes.

Chris is an ambassador for the Gold Challenge, part of the legacy programme for London 2012. Participants take on five or more Olympic or Paralympic sports to raise money for their own charities. He has played cricket for Oxford and football for Aldershot and QPR, but he couldn’t match the success of his father and uncle: both played for England.
