Dan is the host of Channel 5 news. He has previously co-hosted BBC Breakfast fronted the BBC golf coverage and presented from the Olympics. Dan has also been a 5Live presenter, Mastermind and Pointless contestant, and is is known for his success in extracting information from Alex Ferguson.

Dan Walker is the lead anchor on Channel 5’s flagship news bulletin 5 News and the host of Classic FM's Breakfast show. A journalist and broadcaster with over twenty years’ experience, he was at the helm of BBC Breakfast for six years, hosted BBC’s Football Focus for twelve years and has covered five Olympic Games, five World Cups and the NFL for two seasons.
During his time at the BBC, Dan covered Wimbledon, The Grand National, Royal Ascot, The Derby, and the 6 Nations. He continued to work on domestic, European, and international football, co-hosted the broadcaster’s Open golf coverage for the last ten years and was an integral part of the BBC's Olympic offering in London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020.
Dan teamed up with Michaela Strachan to host the Channel 5 show, Digging for Treasure; working with teams of metal detectorists and marine archaeologists looking to unearth the hidden history treasure from all over the UK. He also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, reaching the quarterfinal. Comic Relief asked Dan to help raise funds by climbing Kilimanjaro with a number of other famous faces. The resulting documentary for the BBC Return to Kili followed the teams fund-raising journey.
He presented A Royal Team Talk: Tackling Mental Health for BBC1 with HRH The Duke of Cambridge. With five A-list footballers including Gareth Southgate, Danny Rose, and Peter Crouch, they gathered for an honest conversation about men's mental health. The programme went on to be nominated for several awards. Dan also hosted the game show Chase the Case, The One Show, and Songs of Praise, and appeared on shows including Countdown, The Chase, Celebrity Mastermind and A Question of Sport.
Dan is also the author of books including Standing on the Shoulders: Incredible Heroes and How They Inspire Us, a sequel to the bestselling Remarkable People. His other books include Dan Walker’s Thronkersaurus: Football’s Finest Tales‘and Magic, Mud & Maradona.
For the last few years, Dan has organised his charity golf tournament, The Walker Cup (not that one), raising over £250,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity.
