A popular and acclaimed actor, David made his reputation as the CIA boss in Homeland. David also received plaudits for his portrayal of Martin Luther King in The Mountaintop, starred in The Night Manager, and hosted HIGNFY.

David Harewood is an acclaimed British actor best known for his role in the US TV drama Homeland, and in the international hit BBC series, The Night Manager.

After school and a spell in the National Youth Theatre, David won a place at RADA before embarking on an early acting career that took in TV stalwarts such as Minder, Press Gang and Casualty and then films roles in Al Pacino’s The Merchant of Venice, and Blood Diamond.

David has portrayed Martin Luther King in the critically-acclaimed stage production The Mountaintop, and Nelson Mandela in the BBC drama Mrs Mandela. As well as starring in a host of films and a couple of PlayStation, David has appeared in Greek tragedies and Shakespeare comedies on stage, and on screen has appeared in Doctor Who, Robin Hood, The Wrong Mans and the DC Comics hit series Supergirl. He also appeared as himself in Ten Percent. However it is in his role as implacable CIA Counter-terrorism boss David Estes in the global hit drama Homeland that brought wider fame. It was followed by portraying another CIA operative, this time working in London in the BBC’s adaptation of John Le Carré’s The Night Manager. Away from fiction, David undertook an emotional, personal exploration of his past, his own mental health, and the state of mental health awareness and treatment in BBC2’s Psychosis and Me.
