Biography

One of the country’s most highly regarded and respected comedians, Dominic Holland has enjoyed success as both a stand-up comedian and a writer and has appeared on shows including Have I Got News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and The Royal Variety Show.

Dominic’s first full length solo show, Red Hot Dutch with Dominic, enjoyed huge success at the Edinburgh Fringe and he was presented with the prestigious Perrier Newcomer Award. Regularly playing at The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, he quickly moved into television and became a familiar face thanks to his TV round-up on Clive Anderson Now. His sharp observations of everyday life have great appeal, applauded by the critics for their inoffensive nature.

Dominic has written for the late Bob Monkhouse, Harry Enfield, Lenny Henry, and Clive Anderson. He has also contributed to The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, The Independent, The Sun, and the Daily Mirror.

He is the author of I, Gabriel, The Ripple Effect, The Fruit Bowl, Open Links, A Man’s Life, Only in America, Takes on Life and Eclipsed.

His BBC Radio 4 show The Small World of Dominic Holland was followed up with Holland Shorts. He has also appeared on The News Quiz and was the co-writer of Hal, a sitcom commissioned by BBC Radio 4, that starred Hal Cruttenden, in which Dominic also appeared.

In his podcast Takes on Life, Dominic speaks to a guest from comedy, business, sport, or academia, and has an interesting conversation about their takes on the vagaries of life.
