Biography

Over fifteen years Geeta Pendse has worked extensively for broadcasters including the BBC and Sky to cover arts, politics, and current affairs. Alongside creating original and daily content for BBC news outlets, she has presented Radio 4’s Opening Night giving listeners a backstage pass to the best in theatre, playwriting, and live performance across the UK. She has fronted Civilisations Stories: The Art of Mining, a documentary for BBC Four.

Geeta is an accomplished arts presenter with an infectious passion for all things cultural. This enthusiasm, coupled with her journalistic skills, has led to an array of broadcasting moments designed to open up subjects to wider audiences whilst staying true to an artist’s vision.

On screen Geeta has presented Music of India for Sky Arts, and for the BBC she has presented and reported nationally and regionally on Sunday Morning Live, Inside Out, Sunday Politics, East Midlands Today, and BBC Breakfast. She has been nominated for two Royal Television Society Midlands awards for Reporter of the Year, and Best On Screen Personality.

Geeta is particularly interested in using live technology to reach new audiences. This has included introducing a National Theatre Live theatre performance of the Madness of George III, broadcast in cinemas globally, and a series of online broadcasts from Manchester Art Gallery for The Space/Guardian website.

A practicing yoga teacher, Geeta is passionate about creating content that delves into diverse cultures and religions and enjoys making programmes that focus on wellbeing or the idea of community. When not broadcasting or teaching yoga, Geeta is a trustee for Writing East Midlands and is also a patron of the Rosie May Foundation, a UK based charity working to empower vulnerable women and keep families together in South Asia.
