Comedian, actor and writer, Greg is best known as the imbalanced head of sixth form Mr Gilbert in the BAFTA winning school sit-com The Inbetweeners and as the Taskmaster. He also hosts Sky's revived musical quiz show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Greg’s Inbetweeners role is apt, as he spent thirteen years as a teacher before taking to comedy. The career switch worked, and he first found success with the acclaimed sketch group We Are Klang. The trio were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and went on to their own series on BBC3.
As a solo performer Greg’s routines cover everything from his family, his career as a teacher, his TV fame, his 6’8” stature, life, relationships, family and people, with a combination of intelligence, wordplay and glorious, infectious silliness. He was also nominated again for the Edinburgh Award (for his solo show), making him one of only a handful of performers to be nominated twice.
Post-Inbetweeners, Greg returned to the fictional classroom in his own Channel 4 sit-com Man Down, about the travails of a luckless drama teacher still living with his parents. Greg has also starred in the trans-Atlantic sitcom Cuckoo, wrote and fronted sit-com The Cleaner, and appeared on Mock the Week and 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
