Biography

Hugo Rifkind is a columnist and leader writer for The Times, he writes a weekly opinion column, and My Week, a diary parody. He also writes columns for The Spectator and GQ. He has written for The Herald (in his native Scotland), the Evening Standard, and the Daily Mail.

He hosts a weekly show on Times Radio, an entertaining talk show with guests on news and culture. He is also a regular panellist on Radio 4's satirical show, The News Quiz, and is an occasional speaker on TV shows such as Question Time.

Hugo started his journalistic career in celebrity gossip, and after a stint at a 'showbiz' website he first joined The Times on the paper's gossip diary. This informed his first novel, Overexposure, based around a showbiz reporter.

Hugo is an accomplished after dinner speaker and moderator, his specialisms include current affairs, foreign politics, culture, books and literary events, technology, and social media

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
