After settling easily into the chair on the panel game, Jack’s gaze shifts to the studio audience in Sky Atlantic’s Don’t Sit In The Front Row.

Jack Dee is the writer and star of BBC sitcom Lead Balloon, and has a string of comedy credits to his name. Best known for his combination of supercilious sneering and dour pessimism, Dee has made his name as the county’s favourite misanthrope.

A one-time restaurant manager who nearly became a priest, Jack has travelled a long way since being voted Best Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards. He followed his successful Channel 4 debut series The Jack Dee Show with Jack & Jeremy’s Real Lives, in which he co-starred alongside Jeremy Hardy. He also hosted the variety series Jack Dee’s Saturday Night and Sunday Service, and Jack Dee’s Full Mountie.

Away from standup, Jack has appeared in the acclaimed West End play Art, and on television in The Grimleys, Jonathan Creek and Dalziel & Pascoe. Other dramatic roles have included starring in Simon Nye’s Tunnel of Love and as an MP in The Deputy. He has hosted Have I Got News For You (the third most regular presenter behind Alexander Armstrong and, of course, Angus Deayton), and Radio 4 stalwart I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue. He’s also appeared as a team captain on Shooting Stars and is a regular on QI.

After returning for a new series of Happy Hour, Jack proved himself the nation’s darling when he won Comic Relief’s Celebrity Big Brother. He was then seen shivering in the frozen wastes of Siberia for the BBC’s Celebrity Alone.

The BAFTA nominated Jack Dee Live at the Apollo, saw him at the forefront of the recent comedy boom and the fashion for standup on TV as he hosted shows featuring acts including Jason Manford, Jimmy Carr, Lee Mack and Russell Howard.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

Samira Ahmed, Eniola Aluko, and Alex Mahon

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
