Larry is well known to millions as EastEnders villain and lovable Billericay dad in Gavin & Stacey. He also joined the team in New Tricks and braved the jungle in I’m a Celebrity... A natural storyteller, Larry takes guests from his earliest days on a market stall to fixing the pipes below Broadway, starring on Broadway and having two TV family Christmases.

Biography

Larry Lamb is a popular screen and stage actor with a career spanning over 30 years including much-loved roles in Eastenders and Gavin & Stacey.

After school Larry got a job working in the oil industry which took him to Libya and then Canada, where, whilst attending university, his interest in acting grew. Returning to the UK he took to the stage acting opposite the great Joan Plowright and directed by Franco Zeffirelli. He moved to television and a host of roles, often as roguish Londoners in dramas from Minder to A Touch of Frost, Our Friends in the North to Casualty. He also appeared in the films Buster (as Great Train Robber Bruce Reynolds), and Essex Boys.

Larry’s two best-known TV roles starkly contrasted. In the hugely popular James Corden and Ruth Jones comedy Gavin & Stacey, Larry played Gavin’s Essex businessman dad Mick. For some time Larry’s role as the affable, easy-going Mick ran alongside his portrayal of Eastenders’ Archie Mitchell, a shady, double-crossing villain in the best soap tradition. His wedding to Peggy Mitchell, his Christmas murder, and the subsequent naming of the killer were amongst the show’s most popular moments.

In a career that’s included everything from the RSC to the Superman films, Larry has more recently moved away from acting, presenting his own show on London’s talk radio station, LBC, and proving a popular contestant on I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! He’s a warm and amiable host and after dinner speaker, recounting tales of showbusiness encounters and his thoughts on life, acting and politics.
