Biography

Mark Chapman is a BBC sports presenter most often heard on Radio 5Live presenting many of their flagship sports programmes, including Premier League coverage, and seen hosting Match of the Day 2. He’s also fronted Final Score and BBC coverage of rugby league, NFL and the Confederations Cup.

In over a decade on TV and radio Mark has written, presented and co-produced a range of sporting documentaries including an Inside Sport investigation, The Last Taboo, looking into homosexuality in football, and the critically acclaimed Peddlers: Cycling’s Dirty Truth – a look at doping in cycling. He is also a host on The Athletic Football Podcast which shares behind the scenes news throughout the Premier League season.

Mark’s first job in broadcasting was as a continuity announcer on BBC television before moving to Radio 1 where he became an increasing presence on Sara Cox's Breakfast Show and most famously Scott Mill’s Drive Time. Initially ‘Chappers’ was the sports reporter on Scott’s show but his role expanded to effectively co-hosting the programme. Mark also teamed up with Dave Vitty, Comedy Dave from Chris Moyle’s Breakfast Show, to host their own weekend programme.

After a decade a Radio 1 Mark moved to 5Live. He has also presented football programmes on Channel 5 and ESPN, a cricket podcast for The Times, and a number of non-sporting factual shows. He has fronted Match of the Day, The Football League Show and Football Focus. Away from the microphone he has penned two sport themed books including The Love of the Game, and has written for Match of the Day’s magazine, Shoot, the Independent and the Telegraph.
