Actor, writer and presenter Matt created characters that became part of the fabric of British comedy with Little Britain. He went on to star in stage musicals, films and sitcoms on both sides of the Atlantic, before co-hosting proceedings in the Great British Bake Off.

Biography

Actor and writer Matt Lucas first came to public attention with the hugely popular, BAFTA Award-winning show Little Britain, written and performed with David Walliams. Having become a cornerstone of British television comedy, Matt moved towards acting, on stage and screen, before becoming the co-host of The Great British Bake Off.

Matt first rose to prominence as George Dawes, the scorekeeping baby on Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's anarchic panel show Shooting Stars. After creating the spoof documentary Rock Profiles, he and David created a host of instantly recognisible comic characters in Little Britain, first on radio and then television. Matt then went on to appear on stage in Les Misérables, Me and My Girl, and the Boy George musical Taboo, in films including Bridesmaids and Alice in Wonderland, and on TV in Doctor Who and a host of comedies on both sides of the Atlantic.

As well as acting, writing and presenting, Matt has been involved in a number of music projects for charity, notably a reworking of his Shooting Stars-era Baked Potato Song that raised money for the Feed NHS charity, as did the children's book it inspired, Thank You Baked Potato.

Matt will star alongside Timothee Chalamet in Warner Bros’ musical fantasy Wonka, and is working on his first musical novel, The Boy Who slept Through Christmas.
