Biography

BAFTA award-winning presenter Michaela Strachan has been a regular face on TV screens for over three decades. For the past twelve years she has co-presented the BBC series Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch. She also filmed Ice Age, a three-part documentary with Steve Backshall, Swimming in Sewage: Britain’s Water Scandal and Digging for Treasure for Channel 5. For BBC World Michaela presented Extreme Conservation in The Maldives and Turkey.

Previously, Michaela spent fifteen years presenting the BBC’s The Really Wild Show and ten years fronting Countryfile. Her show for Channel 5, Michaela’s Wild Challenge, was a double BAFTA award-winning production. She took home the BAFTA for Best Children’s Presenter and the programme won Best Children’s Factual. 

Michaela is passionate about encouraging people to get outside and shares the important of keeping active to improve your mental and physical health. Her enthusiasm for conservation and the natural world, make her an entertaining guest speaker, host, and compere.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
