Biography

One of the biggest names in radio, Trevor is an award-winning DJ and a champion for the RnB music scene. He is a household name across the UK with his BBC Radio shows Trevor Goes Old Skool and Trevor Nelson’s Rhythm Nation, which was the first-ever national R&B show.

Trevor began DJing from an early age but his career began when he started the Madhatter sound system, putting on big warehouse parties, and it wasn't long before he was DJing on the then pirate Kiss FM station. When Kiss became legal, Trevor was offered a daytime show as well as a directorship. His experience soon led him to become Cooltempo's club promotions manager and eventually head of A&R. From there he moved to Radio 1 and started pulling in a million listeners every week, leading him to win the MOBO award for DJ of the year four times and Sony Radio’s special gold lifetime achievement award for his services to broadcasting.

Trevor presented MTV's music shows The Lick Chart and The Lick before getting his own music shows on BBC television - Trevor Nelson's Urban Choice, The Lowdown and The Players Club. He has released many successful compilation albums and hosts his own podcast series Trevor Nelson’s Divas in which he relives his most memorable interviews with some of the biggest artists in the industry including Mariah Carey and Beyonce.

Trevor continues to DJ and headline live music events across the UK spreading his love for Soul and R&B and sharing the best hits from past and present.
