Biography

Victoria Derbyshire is the lead presenter of BBC Two's flagship news and current affairs programme Newsnight. Previously the host of her own Radio 5 Live Sony Award-winning show, Victoria also fronted her eponymous BBC Two and News Channel programme, an acclaimed mix of investigative journalism, debate, news and interviews.

Noted for her ability to combine an approachable warmth to human interest and personal stories with insight and incisiveness when tackling the big issues and personalities in public life, Victoria has become one of the most repected current affairs broadcasters working today.

After early stints in local radio in Coventry and Manchester, Victoria was invited to co-present the 5 Live breakfast show. She has gone on to build a reputation for no-nonsense journalism both on radio and television, with credits from Watchdog to The Apprentice - You’re Fired!, Panorama to Have I Got News For You. The Bolton Wanderers fan is also a seasoned sports news reporter, covering two World Cups and the Olympic Games, and was a contestant on the twentieth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
