Wynne Evans

Fee Band

The Welsh tenor is now known as ‘Gio Compario’ - frontman for the comparison site. Wynne’s view is simple: “there’s no rule book which says opera can’t be fun.” He’s performed at major opera houses from Covent Garden and Lyons to Cardiff, and at dozens of rugby internationals.

A classically trained tenor, Wynne is now best known as Gio Compario from the Go Compare website adverts.

Wynne is a regular at the English and Welsh National Opera and has sung as a principal with most of the major opera houses and orchestras, including Covent Garden and the Royal Opera House. His debut album, A Song In My Heart, went straight to number one in the classical charts.

In 2004 Wynne responded to the New Zealand rugby team’s Haka with Bread of Heaven, and has since sung at over 20 Welsh rugby international games.

In addition to his vocal talents, Wynne also speaks entertainingly about his time in the world of opera and his life as one of the country’s most frequently heard (although not always appreciated) singers.

Samira Ahmed, Eniola Aluko, and Alex Mahon

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
