Stressing the importance of socially responsible leadership and green industrialisation, the former CEO of Siemens UK has remained active in the business community as the Co-Founder of vocL, which provides mentorship to the next generation of business leaders.
Juergen Maier is the former CEO of Siemens UK, as well as the co-founder of responsible business platform vocL and Chair of the Digital Catapult.
Juergen began his career with Siemens as a graduate engineer, remaining at the company for the bulk of his career. During his time at Siemens, he held a number of senior roles in both their UK and German offices, eventually becoming the CEO of Siemens UK in 2014. During his time at the helm, he led a number of company initiatives, including relocating the company headquarters to Manchester.
Since retiring from Siemens in 2019, he has remained active in business, stressing the importance of socially responsible and values driven leadership. This is the driver behind vocL, which provides mentorship and support for the next generation of business leaders. It does this in partnership with leaders from companies such as Sainsbury’s, Brompton, Timpson and John Lewis.
As an advocate for the UK’s industrial, infrastructure and manufacturing community, Juergen speaks about the importance of innovation, sustainability and digitalisation. He is the Vice-Chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, which supports the drive for green re-industrialisation of the North of England. He was awarded a CBE in the 2019 New Years honours list, and is an honorary professor at both the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.
