The Ashall Professor of the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Oxford, Michael's work involves developing the University's AI programme, with a focus on multi-agent systems. He has been an AI researcher for over thirty years, is one of the leading academics in the country on the subject, and is the author of The Ladybird Expert Guide to AI.

Michael Wooldridge is an academic and author specialising in Artificial Intelligence. He is a Professor of AI at the University of Oxford.
He has received the Lovelace Medal from the British Computer Society – the leading award for a UK computer scientist – and the Outstanding Educator Award from the Association for the Advancement of AI. He has served as President of the European Association for AI and of the International Joint Conference on AI (IJCAI). He is also Editor-in-Chief of Artificial Intelligence, the leading academic journal in the field.
Michael’s books include The Ladybird Expert Guide to AI and The Road to Conscious Machines, both of which offer accessible introductions to the subject. He regularly speaks on AI at public events including the Hay Festival and Cheltenham Literature Festival, and is often interviewed in the international media on issues around AI and emerging technologies.
