As well as hosting The Gadget Show, Ortis has appeared as a technology reporter on The One Show, and a panellist on The Jeremy Vine Show. His love of technology and science has led to working with the Science Museum, to show that STEM is for everyone.
Ortis Deley is in his tenth year of hosting The Gadget Show. He has co-hosted the sell-out live version of the show on numerous occasions at Birmingham’s NEC, performing to over 75,000 guests. He has also been part of Channel 5’s Police Interceptors team, presenting specials alone and alongside Rick Edwards. He also contributed to Ancient Top 10 for the History Channel, a programme which looked at the origins of technology.
Ortis has an energetic and likeable style which has kept him working as a television presenter for several decades. Having started his career on Trouble TV as a main anchor he then moved to CBBC as the anchor on the show Short Change. Quickly becoming part of the CBBC family he went on to present Why 5, X-perimental, Making It, Xchange, and Live & Kicking.
Ortis has appeared as a guest technology reporter on The One Show, BBC Breakfast News, Watchdog, The Saturday Show, and The Alan Titchmarsh Show; as well as a guest panellist on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and The Jeremy Vine Show.
A love of science and technology began when Ortis was a child who was very much into sci-fi and comic books. He is a self-confessed bona fide geek. Ortis has been working closely with the Science Museum, to show that STEM is for everyone and to promote a healthy understanding around discrimination in tech and was honoured to be part of the judging panel for the Science Book Prize.
Ortis is a fan of everything whisky-related and has set up a group that collaborates with food/drinks events to bring a unique take on tasting experiences. Glassmates exists to educate people on what it is they are drinking. They give informative talks on whisky, rum, brandy cognac and cocktails.
Ortis has an honours degree in pharmacy and is a qualified personal trainer.
