One of Sky News’s highest profile reporters, Sophy was the channel’s Political Correspondent before hosting Sophy Ridge on Sunday for six years. 


Biography

As Political Correspondent at Sky News, Sophy Ridge spent her time reporting and interviewing in Westminster and Whitehall. She then went on to front the Sunday morning political show, Sophy Ridge on Sunday for six years, before moving to the weekday political show, The Politics Hub.

Sophy worked on consumer affairs and then politics at the News of the World before moving to Sky. She has since won a number of awards for her coverage of the annual Party Conferences, her use of social media and for her political blog. She also launched the popular Waste Watch blog, set up to track Government spending. She has covered UK and US elections, Prime Ministerial visits around the world, and political events and opinions across the country.

Sophy is also the author of The Women Who Shaped Politics, a look at some of the key female figures in British political history as well as the barriers they've faced and continue to face.

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
