Stuart Goldsmith

Fee Band

Amiable and sharp, The Times called Stuart a ‘stand-up expert.’ The host of the popular Comedian’s Comedian podcast has confessed to being horribly good-natured, and that despite having saved someone’s life (dressed as a policeman), he’s embarrassingly ill-equipped for more mundane challenges.

Biography

Stuart Goldsmith’s infectious, amiable banter and effortless charm has seen him become an award-winning comedian, writer, and comedy expert. He’s the host of the hugely popular Comedian’s Comedian podcast in which he interviews some of the biggest names in live comedy on their experiences performing, the writing process, and their take on cultivating resilience.

A veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe, Stuart first performed at the world’s biggest arts festival as a street performer before going on to play a series of solo standup shows. His show Another Lovely Crisis was described by The Independent as ‘sparky and with charm to spare, Stuart Goldsmith marries pitch-perfect audience repartee with cleverly woven tales of the everyday.’ He’s also performed at comedy festivals around the world, including the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, where he won the Spirit of the Festival Award.

Often candid, frequently clever, but always good-natured, as well as becoming a fixture on the live circuit, Stuart has appeared on Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled and ITV’s Show Me The Funny where he reached the semi-finals. He has warmed up for the Graham Norton Show and written for Radio 2’s Out to Lunch.

In speeches, Stuart draws together many of the thoughts and observations from the Comedian's Comedian podcast to look at some of the lessons in mindset and resilience that are frequently present amongst standups but that apply to the wider world. Often seen as brave and confident, standups take to the stage, alone, with an often-boisterous audience, and seek to engage and entertain. It doesn't always work. He explores examples of overcoming failure, preparation, setting goals and uncertainty, that are amusing and instructive.
