Fee Band

Biography

Since her first single Every Soul, Birmingham-born Ruby Turner has attracted an army of fans including some of the industry’s biggest stars. On the strength of that first record, offers of work came flooding in from the likes of UB40, Bryan Ferry and Jools Holland.

Ruby’s talent has since developed as a writer and performer with numerous albums to her credit, including the platinum-selling Best Of which went to No.1. The Motown Song Book gave her the opportunity to work with some of her all-time heroes: Jimmy Ruffin and The Temptations, and Junior Walker and the Four Tops.

Two further albums and several singles followed, including the US No.1 It’s Gonna Be Alright. Ruby has also performed Gershwin accompanied by a full 40-piece orchestra at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, and starred in hit productions of Carmen Jones and Fame!

Ruby performs with her live band in cabaret and regularly guests with Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. She has been described by The Guardian as ‘a hurricane of a singer, with the kind of voice that swoops and soars and the physique that powered Aretha Franklin.’
