Biography

Adrian Chiles has presented business and financial news, breakfast television, Champions League football, and a range of factual programming on radio and TV. He hosts mid-mornings on Thursdays and Fridays on BBC 5 Live, and is a regular columnist for The Guardian and The Sun.

He previously presented the Friday edition of 5 Live’s drivetime show and Wake up to Money and 6-0-6 on the station.. On Radio 4 he hosted Financial World Tonight. His show, Chiles on Saturday won a Sony Radio Academy Gold Award.

The former One Show host cut his teeth on Working Lunch before transferring to the Match of the Day 2 sofa. The first host of The Apprentice: You’re Fired he also fronted editions of Panorama and trailed the likes of Richard Branson for So What Do You Do All Day. Having proven himself a man for all broadcasting seasons - be it sport, consumer or lifestyle shows, he moved to The One Show before his high-profile move to ITV where he hosted football coverage, his own chat show, and the channel’s breakfast programme.

Originally a print journalist, Adrian joined BBC Radio as a researcher on Financial World Tonight and World Business Report. He moved into television and reported on everything from the Royal finances to European Union food policy. He’s also been a guest host on Have I Got News For You, and fronted an acclaimed, personal examination into British society’s relationship with alcohol, Drinkers Like Me. Following the documentary he published the book The Good Drinker.

Adrian has hosted an array of documentaries for the BBC including two-part documentary series for BBC Two, My Mediterranean with Adrian Chiles, which explored the various religious festivals and customs in the region, a Panorama special investigating the reasons Britain voted to leave the European Union, and Whites vs Blacks: How Football Changes a Nation.
