The BBC’s West of England business correspondent covers news stories across the region, from high street issues to personal finance.

As the BBC’s Business Correspondent in the West of England, Dave Harvey has seen all aspects of business life. From Honda’s huge factory in Swindon to the family cheesemakers of the Mendips, hi-tech aerospace engineering in Filton or a crowd-sourced chocolatier in the Cotswolds, Dave brings the varied world of west country business to the screen.

Dave started as the token man on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, progressed to covering Manchester United’s victorious treble-winning run and in between produced, amongst others, Melvyn Bragg, Jonathan Dimbleby and Anna Ford. He returned to his west country roots as the BBC’s political man in the West, turning a few heads with his trademark purple camper van nicknamed “The Politics Bus”. When the financial crash changed the world, Dave was asked to switch roles to cover business.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

Samira Ahmed, Eniola Aluko, and Alex Mahon

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
