Shaun starts the afternoon with a recipe of classic and new music, obscure facts, shout-outs, knowingly bad jokes and down-to-earth Lancastrian charm.

Shaun Keaveny presents BBC 6Music’s afternoon show - a mix of classic and cutting-edge new music, interviews and comedy. Before his move to the BBC Shaun was heard in the mornings at indie music station XFM (now Radio X).

With a fine line in self-deprecation, knowingly bad jokes and affable, down-to-earth charm, Lancastrian Shaun has won a loyal following on air. Away from the radio studio there have been various TV appearances and voice-overs for Channel 4 and Sky, and Shaun has performed standup and danced as Beyoncé for Comic Relief.

Before XFM Shaun had no on-air experience, having previously worked variously at an aluminium parts factory, as a volunteer in a Citizen’s Advice Bureau, and in customer services, before landing his first job in the radio industry as a copywriter for 2-Ten FM in Reading. He has also published a book of obscure facts about the UK titled R2D2 lives in Preston.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

Samira Ahmed, Eniola Aluko, and Alex Mahon

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
