Aaron Simmonds

Fee Band

Aaron is a one-time basketball international, champion powerlifter, personal trainer and Jewish Comedian of the Year. He’s also an ambassador for Cerebra – helping families with neurological conditions. Fresh from Edinburgh (where The Scotsman described his show as ‘belting along on wheels of laughter’), Aaron has already accumulated TV credits from BackChat to The Russell Howard Hour.

Aaron has been failing to stand up for thirty years; luckily, he is far better at comedy than standing up. He has a unique perspective on life, usually of people's belly buttons, which gives him stories to tell, and a sore neck. His comedic style is story-based, with clever one-liners interspersed throughout. He offers sharply observed comedy, which is grounded in his disability, but is by no means limited by it.

Aaron was a BBC New Comedy Award finalist, and has also won Jewish Comedian Of The Year. He was an Amused Moose Comedy Award Best Show finalist, and was nominated for Best Comedy Show in the Broadway World UK Edinburgh Fringe Awards.

He performed his critically-acclaimed debut show, Disabled Coconut, at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019. It detailed a complicated relationship alongside the absurdity of “competitive disability”. He decided to turn the show into a sitcom with his long-time friend and comedy confidante Jon Stapley. Together, they crafted a sitcom pilot that received a commendation in the “Screenshot” competition, and reached the final six for the BBC’s inaugural Galton & Simpson bursary out of more than 2,500 applicants.

Aaron TV credits include The Russell Howard Hour (Sky Max), The Stand-Up Sketch Show (ITV2), Undeniable (Comedy Central), Guessable (Comedy Central) and BackChat (Dave).

He is a professionally trained personal trainer, as well as a former international basketball player and world champion powerlifter. He is also an ambassador for Cerebra.
