Aside from his regular duties on the music station, Matt has hosted The Xtra Factor, quizzed candidates on The Apprentice: You're Fired!, and has added a comic take on showbiz, celebrities and music on programmes from 8 Out of 10 Cats to Britain's Got More Talent to Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Biography

Matt Edmondson is a radio and TV presenter who hosts a weekend show on BBC Radio 1 with Mollie King. He and Mollie are also the hosts of the rebooted UK version of Beauty And The Geek for Discovery+.

After brief stints on CBBC and Channel 4’s Richard & Judy, Matt moved to music television covering the Isle of Wight festival for ITV, T in the Park for the BBC, and the MTV Europe awards. He also worked as a writer, producer, and reporter on a variety of showbiz and entertainment shows and websites.

Matt joined Radio 1 presenting celebrity news on Fearne Cotton’s show before moving to take over Sara Cox’s Sunday show. He also co-hosted ITV’s coverage of the iTunes Festival with Fearne and joined the T4 presenting team. As well as interviewing an array of film and music superstars, Matt’s show has seen him date Carol Vorderman, encourage listeners to give pictures of him to their mothers for Mothers’ Day, and tracked down forgotten popstars of days gone by.

In addition to all of this, Matt co-hosted The Xtra Factor alongside Rylan Clark, and has appeared on panel shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Celebrity Juice. He’s written, produced and presented TV OD, and has often appeared on The Apprentice: You're Fired!, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! NOW!, and Britain’s Got More Talent.

His television production company (Accidentally on Purpose) has co-produced shows for BBC1, Channel 4, ITV2 and Comedy Central.

A keen magician, Macmillan published Matt’s first book for children The Greatest Magician in the World.

A bright, likeable, and entertaining host, Matt combines professionalism with energy and excellent comic timing.

Agent Recommendation

If you want to inject energy into awards, the diminutive Radio 1 presenter is well worth considering. He has natural enthusiasm, he makes everyone feel relaxed and he leads proceedings without ever succumbing to the temptation of making it all about him.
