Fondly remembered as Barry in Eastenders, Shaun has since appeared in Extras, Life’s Too Short, The Secret Policeman’s Ball, Chicago and in Rapunzel the BBC’s new anthology of Fairy Tales. He offers a peek inside Albert Square - and fronts his own ten piece soul band.

Biography

Shaun Williamson came to acting late, after the Navy and a stint as a postman. He also worked in the wines & spirits department at Safeway, before being shot to fame as Barry Evans in EastEnders. He returned to the screen as a long-suffering, struggling actor known by all as Barry (because of the profile of his Eastenders role) in Ricky Gervais’s hit show Extras.

After leaving the Square, Shaun also turned his hand to game shows as host of The 24 Hour Quiz on ITV. (He is an obsessive quizzer with an in-depth knowledge of films, pop and boxing.) He also won Celebrity Mastermind, Celebrity Pointless, and Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes - with his performance as Meatloaf. He also re-joined Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in their Warwick Davis sit-com Life’s Too Short.

Away from the small screen, Shaun joined the cast of Chicago in the West End and toured nationwide with Saturday Night Fever, starring as Monty the DJ. He also appeared once again alongside Ricky Gervais in his Hollywood film, The Invention of Lying.

Shaun is a skilled and versatile all-rounder. He performs in cabaret, speaks after dinner (offering a peek inside Albert Square amongst other tales) - and fronts his own soul band.
