Paul Tonkinson

Fee Band

Paul has performed in 45ºC heat in the Iraqi desert, sharing the stage with tanks and a Bee Gees tribute. It prepared him for almost any challenge. He’s also hosted Xfm’s breakfast show and brought Yorkshire wit to McIntyre’s Roadshow. Recent projects include a Comedy Store show broadcast live in cinemas.

Paul Tonkinson - Yorkshireman, occasional marathon runner and sometime radio presenter - is also an established star of the stand-up circuit.

With warm but deadpan northern charm and infectious energy, Paul leads audiences on a crash course in the north-south divide, the curious differences between male and female logic, and the (sometimes real) characters that have populated his life.

Best known to television viewers for The Big Breakfast and BBC2’s The Sunday Show, Paul started his career by winning two Time Out comedy awards. He’s since popped up on numerous panel and list shows (from 100 Greatest Cartoons to Greatest World Cup Moments), and became the inaugural breakfast host on Xfm Manchester before moving to its London sister station. Paul has also appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow.

Paul was the first comic to perform in Iraq after the war was declared over. He played to 2,500 troops in 45C degree heat in the middle of the desert, with tanks on either side of the stage and accompanied by four dancers and a Bee Gees tribute band. The experience prepared him for almost any challenge.

Paul has performed all over the world, from Spain to Singapore and Dubai; and as well as Iraq, he has entertained the troops in Afghanistan, the Falkland Islands, Malta, Kosovo and Egypt. He’s also a regular at London’s Comedy Store, from where he hosts a bill broadcast live to cinemas across the nation.

Looking Ahead to International Women’s Day

Samira Ahmed, Eniola Aluko, and Alex Mahon

We were joined by four fantastic speakers to look ahead at International Women’s Day. With the theme of this year’s event being #InspireInclusion, we were lucky enough to hear from four women who have each blazed a trail in their respective fields: CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon; the former Australian Prime Minister and Chair of Kings’ Global Institute of Women’s Leadership, Julia Gillard; one of the leading voices in football, Eniola Aluko MBE; and broadcaster and journalist, Samira Ahmed.
